About the App
RetroPix (the "App") is a pixel-art creation app with a Constrained Mode that follows the real hardware limits of retro game consoles (Famicom/NES, Super Famicom/SNES, Game Boy, Genesis/Mega Drive) — resolution, palette size, sprite size, etc. — and a Free Mode with no such constraints. All image processing happens on your device. Your pixel art and project data are never sent to the developer's servers or to any third party.
2. Photo Library Access
The App requests access to your photo library to load images you select as reference sketches for pixel art.
- Only images you explicitly select are accessed
- Loaded images are processed on-device only, as a reference sketch
- Sharing happens only when you explicitly choose a destination from the share sheet (Save to Photos, Files, Messages, etc.)
- The App never transmits your images externally
3. Advertising
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements.
Information Collected
- Advertising identifier (IDFA, only if you allow tracking via App Tracking Transparency)
- IP address, Device ID, and similar identifiers
- Ad impression and click logs
Sent To
Google servers
Purpose
Ad delivery, frequency optimization, fraud prevention
Ad Placement
- Banner ad: bottom of the home screen
- Interstitial (full-screen) ads: may appear after completing an export + share sheet operation (PNG export, sprite sheet export, binary export), every time unless you are in an ad-free period
- Rewarded (video) ads: watching one at your choice pauses ads for 1 hour, stacking with repeated views
Opt-Out
- Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or Settings → RetroPix → Allow Tracking → OFF to disable use of the advertising identifier
- Ads will still appear if you opt out, but behavioral targeting is disabled — only generic ads are shown
See Google's advertising policy (https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads) for details.
Usage Analytics
The App does not use any developer-operated analytics tool. The only data collected is what the ad SDK (Google AdMob) itself collects for ad delivery, as described in "Information Collected" above.
Data Retention
- Image and project data: The App never transmits images or project data externally, so retention by the developer is zero
- Advertising data: Managed according to Google AdMob's retention policies (https://policies.google.com/privacy)
4. Crash Reports and Diagnostics
The App uses only Apple's standard crash reporting (via TestFlight and App Store Connect). No third-party crash analytics services (Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics, etc.) are used.
- Data sent to: Apple
- The developer receives only aggregated statistics from Apple, with no personally identifying information
- You can disable this by going to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share with App Developers → OFF
5. Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the App.
Please note that Google AdMob, which is integrated into the App, may display general-audience targeted advertising (ad content rating is set to G). For users under 13, please use the App under parental supervision.
6. Data Storage and Deletion
- Project data (.rpx / .rfx): Using the in-app "Save" action stores it on-device (in the App's private storage area), letting you reopen it later from "Recent Projects" in the App. This data is never transmitted externally
- Exported files (PNG, sprite sheet zip, binary zip): Export actions generate temporary files on-device (in the App's private cache area), which are handed only to the destination you choose from the share sheet (photo library, Files app, Messages, etc.). Files in the cache area may be automatically removed by the OS
- Deletion: All saved data is removed via in-app delete actions, or by uninstalling the App
- Advertising data: Managed according to Google AdMob's own policies
7. Rights of Users in the EU / UK / California
If you reside in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under applicable law (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA), including the right to:
- Access personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your personal data
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (CCPA)
The App does not collect personal data on the developer's servers, so most of these rights primarily concern data collected by Google AdMob. Please refer to Google's privacy policy and contact us at [email protected] for any inquiries.
8. Changes to This Policy
This policy may change without notice. We will announce significant changes in the release notes of new App versions, or on this page.
